Based on the works of Dr. Seuss

"Seussical" Jr. The Musical

Book/music lyrics: Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty Co-Conceived by: Eric Idle TWN's Children's musical for children by children. Directed By Joesph Gilmore. Oh the things you can think! Says the mischievous Cat in the Hat at the onset of this fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza! Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Lucky Stiff, My Favorite Year, Once On This Island, and Ragtime) have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie and all of the Whos of Whoville! These classic, colorful tales are seamlessly brought together by Jojo, a young boy and “thinker of strange and wonderful thinks”! As each story unfolds you will marvel at how relevant and profound Seuss’s subtle themes are; making this musical one that appeals to all ages. The score emerges as a Seussian gumbo of musical styles, ranging from Latin to pop, swing to gospel, and R&B to funk! So let your toes tap, your fingers snap, and your imagination run wild, for "If you open your mind, Oh, the Thinks you will find Lining up to get loose! Oh, the Thinks you can think! "Blown Sideways Through Life:" A Hilarious Tour de Resume

This extremely popular off Broadway hit, as directed by Jane Karakula, will shine on the TWN stage this summer and should not be missed! A nonstop comic romp, the play centers on an average woman who lives an extraordinary life and tells about it with gusto. With great comic good spirits she tells of being gainfully employed and fired 64 times from jobs such as tending a cosmetic counter at Bloomingdale's, slicing meat at a Madison Square Garden concession stand, and answering the phone for an Upper East Side call girl service. Spinning her story as if she were turning straw into gold, this princess has seen and heard it all and bears the scars to prove it and the wit to tell about it. "Blown Sideways Through Life" is a sly, poignant, and highly theatrical investigation of one woman's search for an identity deeper and more human than any job description. Her experiences become our own and her enlightenment ours as well, as we realize that we too are the sum of our experiences and that all the people we meet, however faceless they may be behind seemingly menial jobs, may "have a story that will stop your heart."

"Grease"

"Grease," the quintessential 50's doo-wop musical romp, is packed with classic hits and show stopping numbers. The action revolves around Sandy Dumbroski's unforgettable August at the beach where she meets Danny Zuko and falls in love. This rock 'n roll musical captures Rydell High's spirited class of '59. With its gum chewing, hubcap stealing, hot rod loving boys with D.A.'s and their wise cracking girls in bobby sox and pedal pushers, the musical captures the look and sound of the 1950's. "Grease's" eight year run made Broadway history. Traveling companies, long running revivals, "Grease" the movie, and the recent reality show based on the musical attest to its being among the most popular musicals ever made. Do not miss TWN's summer musical, "Grease"! It is sure to be a gas! "Grease" will be directed by Roberta Esposito with Musical Direction by Laura Mulholland and staring the TWN summer resident and the TWN musical theatre conservatory company

"Pinocchio"

“Pinocchio” is the venerable children's tale of a sweet-but-silly puppet who comes to life. He has a wish in his heart and a long wooden nose that acts as a barometer of truthfulness. The story begins with Geppetto becoming aware that his puppet seems to move every time he glances away. Children in the audience roar with laughter as they wait for Geppetto to discover what they already know-- Pinocchio is no ordinary puppet. Pinocchio's curiosity and knack for getting into mischief lead him to run away. He endures many adventures and almost lands in a world of trouble. In the end, however, his experiences teach him to be brave and unselfish. And through the power of the Blue Fairy and the lonely Geppetto’s desire for a son, Pinocchio becomes a real boy at last. Through the creative magic of TWN’s Resident and Children's Theatre Conservatory companies, you will be reminded that a dream is a wish the heart makes. Bring your little dreamers to live theater and see how they too come to life through the power of a magical story played on the stage. Presented by special arrangement with "On Stage" Chicago

"Moon Over Buffalo"

"Moon Over Buffalo" takes place at the Erlanger Theatre in Buffalo, New York, where George and Charlotte Hay are on tour in repertory productions of "Cyrano de Bergerac" and Noel Coward's "Private Lives." Fate has given the couple one more shot at starring roles in the bigtime. Ronald Colman has broken his leg and won't be able to perform in Frank Capra's movie, "The Scarlett Pimpernel." The director himself is coming to Buffalo to check out George and Charlotte for the main roles. But through a series of farcical misunderstandings, George has become drunk and enters the stage unsure of what play he is in. Hilarious misunderstandings and madcap adventures ensue that will have you laughing in delight at what a mad mad world we sometimes live in. Directed by Fritz Michel

"Almost Maine"

Sparks will fly this fall as TWN calls all actors to the stage to workshop this exciting, uplifting, ingeniously tight written piece "Almost Maine" Jane Kurakula will take the talents of island actors and workshop this show onto the stage. Open auditions will be in September for a November curtain. "Almost Maine” is set at 9PM on a Friday night in the dead of winter. The residents of the mythical town of Almost, Maine are shown falling in and out of love at an alarming rate. In each scene a couple meets, flirts, bickers, and sometimes reunites. Most exchanges contain a kiss, and most conclude happily, or at least hopefully. We are never far away from a faint dusting of snowbound magical realism. "Almost Maine" is engineered to be a crowd pleaser, right down to the scene-changing antics of a pair of stagehands in parkas. Knees are bruised, hearts are broken; but bruises heal and hearts mend -- almost -- in this delightful romantic comedy. It will touch your heart and stir your soul, warming both like the perfect cup of coco on a cold winter’s night. And if you don’t believe us, listen to those who have already made the trip to “Almost Maine.” A whimsical approach to the joys and perils of romance. Magical happenings bloom beneath the snowdrifts.” —NY Times. “A charmer…Unexpected magic lingers in the air like someone’s breath on a cold winter’s night. John Cariani aims for the heart by way of the funny bone.” —Star-Ledger. “Utterly endearing…It’s hard not to warm up to ALMOST, MAINE.
