More Info on Nantucket Theatrical Productions:

Nantucket Theatrical Productions is a group of actors, writers, readers and directors committed to supporting original theater. Since its founding in 1992, the Nantucket Short Play Competition and Festival has grown into one of the nations largest and oldest, receiving work from playwrights nationwide, over 200 entries a year. Each winter perhaps four dozen of these are read aloud and discussed, often more than once, and by spring a handful are finally selected for performance. Many of these performances are world premieres, and often the playwright is in attendance. These types of contests are key stepping-stones to young writer’s careers, or pleasant additions to the resumes of established writers. NTP has produced over 120 original plays to date and hosted a number of playwrights’ visits, offering a valuable exchange of ideas with our own theatre communitiy. We are also proud to have introduced theater to many islanders, and given opportunities to local playwrights to have their work read, critiqued or performed.

Founded in 1992 by Jim Patrick, Artistic Director until 2002

Current Artistic Director Bruce Yancy

Readers include: Susan Beaumont, Dwight Beman, Greg Bourbeau, Ciaran Byrne, Rachel Dowling, Bee Gonella, Margaret Hitchcock, Marcela Jones, Christy Kickham, Eddie Loring, Susan McGinnis, Bill Mogensen, Grace Noyes, Hadley St. John.

Please contact Bruce at ackchef2@aol.com if you would like to join the group. All are welcome.
